Introduction

[Helsinki Swimming] European Swimming Championships, Helsinki, July 2000.

Sport dominates the media - it dominates lives. It develops motivation, team spirit, fills our recreation times and influences what we wear. If we don't play it for real, we watch it, listen to it or play it virtually on our computers. For most it's a pastime, for others it's a living. For some it's an obsession ... even a religion.

Sport is one of the main reasons why people watch TV. It is the third most popular subject on radio after news and music. The media is swamped with sports coverage and analysis, news, quizzes, discussions and debates. Not only channels and frequencies, but whole stations are devoted to it. The FIFA World Cup™ and the Olympic Games are now not only the biggest sporting events in history, but also the biggest media events ever staged.

2K Plus International Sports Media exists to promote a relevant, alternative Christ-centred lifestyle to sports fans throughout the world. We achieve this by reporting from major sporting events with news and comment reflecting a belief in Jesus Christ and by providing sports people who follow Christ with a platform from which to share their faith. Historically we have worked primarily in radio and the internet but increasingly will explore the opportunities that exist with other media

We would not be able to function without our cooperative partnerships with a number of non-profit agencies. The multi-national team drawn from these groups reflects our cultural diversity and shared faith in Christ.

Formerly a ministry of Focus Radio, 2K Plus International Sports Media became an entity in it's own right when it was incorporated as a limited company in England in September 2001.
