Ceremonies
Well, the games are ending tonite. And this will be my last report until the next big party I am invited too (to the organisers of the France world cup.. I AM AVAILABLE!). Like everyone else I will be checking out parts of the closing ceremony... not all of it though, I have stuff to do, but I will be watching a lot of it.
I like the closing ceremonies of any event. They are a great time. During the Olympics I was on the Field of Play for the closing event. I got to see Kylie Minogue close up, got to see the joy on the athletes faces. It was like a giant rock festival.
At the closing of the 2003 world cup, I was on the Field of Play again, as part of the ceremony, and apart from the final result, I again had a great time.
If you ever get the chance to represent your, or any other nation, in any sport, I suggest you take it. When my Rugby League team, the Kagoshima Broncos, defeated the New York Knights to win the inaugural North Pacific Rugby League Club Challenge, the Japanese boys and I, as well as our hosts, had a great time that night.
When the Amateur Sumo World Wrestling Championships after party started, the dancing was great! I even had a drink with the very nice South African chap who broke my ankle the day before, and If I had not been in surgery for the world games, I would have had another one with him then.
Sport has great parties, and makes great friends. And apart from the injuries it helps you stay in shape. If those 3 reasons are not enough for you to take up sport, I do not know what is.
Anyway, after all this excitement I am thinking of getting back into training. The World games in Taipei are 3 years away. Maybe I shall be reporting for you from there.
