Christian sports media agency appoints Africa Development Manager PDF Print E-mail
2K Plus International Sports Media has appointed Norman Brierley as its Africa Development Manager with effect from 1st May.

2K Plus is an international sports media agency that exists to promote a relevant, alternative, Christ-centred lifestyle to sports fans around the world.  It has two aims: to introduce sports fans to Christ and to encourage Christian sports fans in their faith.

Norman’s role is to develop relationships with radio stations across Africa and identify new broadcasting outlets.

Norman Brierley has spent the past 37 years with Christian broadcaster Feba working in Seychelles, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Ethiopia.  In 1995 he reported from the All Africa Games in Harare and since 2002 he has worked with 2K Plus on secondment from Feba reporting from sporting events such as the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and World Athletics Championships.  In June he heads to South Africa to cover the FIFA Confederations Cup.

"I'm looking forward to spending more time with 2K Plus,” said Norman, “particularly in developing the Africa contacts.  Africans are crazy about sport and to be able to supply programmes and interviews about Christian sportsmen and women who want to share their faith, will be a great privilege for me.”

“We are delighted to have Norman on board,” said 2K Plus Chief Executive Officer Adrian Barnard.  “His understanding of Africa, stemming from over 30 years living in the continent, coupled with his experience of 2K Plus for the past seven years makes him ideally suited for this role.  We look forward to expanding our work in Africa through Norman’s expertise and endeavour.”

Norman, aged 66, is based in Wellington, Somerset.

2K Plus International Sports Media is a registered charity.  It has reported from major international sporting events with a Christian perspective since 1991, first as a ministry of HCJB-UK, then with Focus Radio before becoming a charitable company in its own right in 2001.  Last year a 2K Plus team of 17 reported from the Beijing Olympics in seven languages for over 1500 radio stations around the world.  In 2003 2K Plus launched a weekly radio programme, Planet Sport, heard on 15 radio stations in countries including Australia, Kenya and South Africa.
