Sports media group 2K Plus International Sports Media has launched a new interactive website and weekly podcast programme for sports fans. www.planetsport.tv is designed to engage sports fans with the leading issues in sport and also explore the stories behind the headlines. Planet Sport is a 15-minute programme featuring news, features and interviews from the world of sport with a Christian perspective. The show is available to download from www.planetsport.tv as a podcast from iTunes. “The aim of the website and Planet Sport programme is to introduce sports fans to Jesus,” said 2K Plus Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Barnard. “Through interviews with top Christian sportsmen and women and our network of correspondents around the world, we want to show that following Jesus in the 21st century is relevant and fulfilling. We hope Planet Sport will be a credible resource to which Christians can direct their non-Christian sporting friends.” Scotland and British and Irish Lions forward, Euan Murray, Kenya’s double Olympic marathon silver medallist Catherine Ndereba and Britain’s double Olympic rowing silver medallist, Debbie Flood are all lined up to feature on the show. Regular correspondents include Brazilian former F1 driver Alex Ribeiro for Formula One, former Samoa international Tu Nu’uali’itia for rugby union and Verité Sport director, Stuart Weir for football. The website also features a review of the film about the life of disgraced former South African cricket captain, Hansie Cronje, and an interviews with former Zimbabwe cricketer Henry Olonga and Springbok rugby international Cobus Visagie recorded at the London premiere earlier this year. Planet Sport is also heard on radio stations around the world in countries such as Australia, Grenada, Ireland, Kenya and Malawi. In the UK it can be heard on Branch FM, Dewsbury and Cross Rhythms. 2K Plus International Sports Media is a registered charity. It has reported from major international sporting events with a Christian perspective since 1991, first as a ministry of HCJB-UK, then with Focus Radio before becoming a charitable company in its own right in 2001. In 2008 a 2K Plus team reported from the Beijing Olympics in seven languages for over 1500 radio stations worldwide.
