Debbie Flood, Great Britain silver medallist with women's quadruple sculls in Athens Olympic Games: "I really believe that God's put me in this place to be a witness for Him within rowing."

Great Britain's Sydney Olympic gold medallist team of Sir Steve Redgrave, Tim Foster, Sir Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell finished third in a re-run of that famous race, a charity event staged to raise funds for the World Food Programme to help victims of the Boxing Day tsunami in Asia.

Lord Coe, leader of the London 2012 Olympic bid team on the bidding process: "No matter who wins this process our over-arching task is to get more young people engaged in our (Olympic) movement."
